Why Is My Windshield Washer Fluid Frozen?
If you drive in or around our home of Whitecourt, AB, then you're probably well aware of the potential hazards of winter driving. One of those potential hazards is frozen windshield wiper fluid, but rest assured, you can find out why your wiper fluid might freeze and what you can do about it below, and contact us at Eagle River Chrysler if you need more information.
Since the solvent of windshield wiper fluid is water, it's only natural that it might freeze in extreme winter weather. This is why we suggest using a windshield wiper blend with the lowest freezing point you can find. If your fluid won't spray at all, even when your jets are clear of snow, there's a good chance your fluid is frozen, but luckily, you won't need to take any drastic measures to rectify this problem. Simply letting your vehicle warm up for a little bit can be enough for your wiper fluid to thaw, and driving for a little while could do the trick as well. Once your washer fluid is spraying the way it should, we recommend filling your reservoir with a low-temperature fluid, as it can help dilute any pesky leftovers in your system and keep spraying in cold weather. If ever your fluid isn't spraying and isn't frozen, you may have a faulty pump, in which case we suggest bringing your vehicle to our Service Centre for some TLC.
